Ludhiana, 20 Dec 2024, ANN: Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR)-All India Coordinated Research Project on Post-Harvest Engineering and Technology (AICRP on PHET), on thursday successfully conducted a one-day training programme titled “Entrepreneurship Development Programme in Agro-Processing for Better Livelihood.”
The workshop focused on empowering 25 participants from Scheduled Caste (SC/ST) communities as part of the Scheduled Caste Sub Plan initiative. The programme combined theoretical sessions with practical demonstrations to provide a comprehensive learning experience.
Dr. MS Alam, Principal Scientist and Scheme Incharge, inaugurated the session. He highlighted the critical role of agro-processing in minimizing post-harvest losses, fostering agricultural diversification, and generating employment opportunities for rural youth. Dr. Alam also urged participants to explore entrepreneurial ventures such as domestic honey processing, which can add value to agricultural produce and boost incomes.
The initiative reflects PAU’s commitment to improving livelihoods in rural communities through skill development and technological interventions.
