The central government has included the litchi in the new agricultural export policy. Bihar Agriculture Minister, Dr Prem Kumar has welcomed the Union Ministry of Commerce’s Central Agriculture Export Policy, 2018 to include Liichi produced in Muzaffarpur in Bihar. Litchi is a major crop of Bihar. The farmers will get the benefit of this,

Apart from this, Bihar’s Agriculture Minister Prem Kumar has requested to include other crops of the state in this policy.

The Minister said that in the Geographical Journal of the Government of India, Katarni rice of Bhagalpur, Jardalu Mango and Navada’s Magahi pan have been also registered.

Along with this, a request will be made to the Government of India to incorporate the specific agricultural products like Makhana and Hajipur’s Malbhog banana, which are produced in the state of Bihar.

Dr Kumar said that the Agriculture Department is encouraging the fruits and vegetables in the selected districts to be promoted through Special Crop Scheme and as well as a biological corridor for the promotion of organic vegetables.
