Madhya Pradesh is hosting a two-day international event, ‘The Corn Festival 2018.’ The festival will kick start from 29th September 2018 and will conclude on the 30th September 2018 at the Pola Ground, Dashahara Maidaan, Nagpur Road, Chhindwara.

Speaking about the festival, Mr. Ved Prakash, District Collector, Chhindwara said, “The key goals of this festival is to promote research in the field of corn industry, increase production as corn is a commodity which is consumed in many day-to-day products like – corn flour, cornmeal, corn gluten, cornflakes etc. We hope to see an enthusiastic participation which will help us create a bigger market for people venturing into corn industry through this two-day event.”

The festival will host a number of activities and events including training and seminars to deliver the best possible knowledge on corn farming, product development, market approach, industrial set ups and more. The event will also include an industrial expo where a lot of players in the corn industry will exhibit and interact with their stakeholders. To add to the entertainment quotient, cultural programs like folk dances, drama and music will be a part of the festival.  The participants/attendees will also get a chance to pamper their taste buds with corn cuisines specially cooked using recipes from home and some of the popular restaurants from around the world.

Chhindwara is the largest corn producing district of Madhya Pradesh in India and through this festival, the district administration aims at providing a platform to industries, Government bodies, policy makers, media, researchers and students from across the globe to come under one roof and discuss with the farmers, the growth of corn in the agriculture and industrial sectors. The city is the largest corn producing district in Madhya Pradesh with productivity of 5200 Kg per hectare. Hence, one of the best locations to host such an event.
