Karnataka to Host International Millet Festival in Bengaluru

Bengaluru, 23 Dec 2024 | ANN

Bengaluru is set to host the International Millet Festival on January 23, 24, and 25, Karnataka Agriculture Minister N. Cheluvarayaswamy announced on Saturday. Ahead of the grand event, district-level Krishi Mela and Millet Mela programs will be organized as a prelude, with Mandya hosting its Millet Mela next month.

The announcement was made during the inauguration of the “Millet Walk” (Siridhanya Nadige) organized by the Department of Agriculture. Minister Cheluvarayaswamy hailed millets as the “healthiest foods” and emphasized the State government’s commitment to promoting millet cultivation.

The International Millet Festival in Bengaluru will bring together national and international experts, millet industry stakeholders, and innovators in millet-related technologies. The event aims to foster discussions and strategies to scale up millet production and consumption globally.

The Minister encouraged farmers to actively participate in these discussions and implement expert recommendations to cultivate healthier crops on their lands.
