We celebrated 69th republic day today. But the people who feed India still struggle to survive and fighting for survival. They still live, rather dying, with a meagre average monthly income of less than Rs 4000 and out of this they also have to spend for seeds, fertilizer, irrigation, etc. They are our farmers but we have put them in a situation of life and death. A situation where food growers are begging for their own survival. It’s a national shame.

If this figure of Rs 4000 can bring some tears in our eyes, our coming republic days will be much better.  Our farmer would definitely get at least the economic justice. It is important because farmers are the one who toil for us, whatever the weather is, whatever the loan burden and poverty they are carrying on their shoulders, farmers have never failed in their duties towards the nation. Despite doing record food production, they are not getting deserving price for their work and produce.

It is therefore, rightfully, the farmers are demanding setting up farmers’ assured income commission and farmers’ pension and a mechanism for giving appropriate prices for their produce. In addition to this, there is a need of separate agri budget for a reason that nearly 55 percent of people are employed in agri sector. Telangana state will be presenting the separate agri budget this year.

Our farmers rose up against the British atrocities in 18^th, 19^th and 20^th century where they fought and sacrificed their lives for their rights. They can fight injustice being meted out to them. In last two years, they have shown they can reach Delhi to demand their rights and justice.

Let’s be thankful to our farmers and respect them. Our Farmers deserve a National Farmers Memorial in New Delhi, in recognition to their services, sacrifices and duty towards the nation. Let’s do it.
