First, government did not fulfill promises made to farmers in last two years and when farmers decided to march to Delhi to press government for their demands, MSP guarantee law in particular, government has woken up late. Over it, it is closing all roads to Delhi in order to prevent farmers from coming to the capital. Govt should understand it’s not only in India but farmers are suffering globally and whole Europe is witnessing unprecedented farmers protest for their demands in order to save their profession.

Though government has already held one meeting with farmers in this week and it has invited farmers for other meeting on 12th Feb 2024, a day before the start of the farmers march to Delhi but it has not yet made its intent clear on farmers demands.

Agriculture Scientist Late M. S. Swaminathan, who has been conferred with Bharat Ratna recently said, if agriculture goes wrong, nothing else will have a chance to go right.

Therefore, government should not take farmers for granted rather it should take a step forward by assuring their incomes by making MSP guarantee law.

Government should wake up now!
